Does golf sound fun? Here you will find everything you need to get started, either as a first-timer or as a comeback. Young or old, kid or adult, man or woman – it does not matter.
The absolutely easiest way to start playing golf is to take a beginners course at your local golf club. So don’t forget to bring the necessary golf equipments and put it inside your golf bag so are prepare for the game. As for the children, these classes are usually modified as “golf adventure” with shorter courses and equipment.
We would also like to recommend visiting a driving range and borrow some clubs from the clubhouse (which is 100% possible!) and try out a few swings.
Contact a golf club in your area and they will assist you further. However, in this post, we will help you get a short understanding of the ins and outs of golf!
Comeback?
Have you played golf before, taken a break and would like to pick it up again? Then you have to contact the golf club that you want to become a member and they will help you activate your handicap again.
9 things to know about Golf!
1. The Golf Course
A golf course usually containts 18 holes with different lengths. The length is usually divided into “Par” with “Par 3” the shortest and “Par 5” the longest.
On every hole, there is a “Tee” from where this hole begins. Then the hole will follow the wairway, up until the green and the pin.
Along the hole, there will be hazards and traps such as water hazards and bunkers.
2. Objectives
Golf is about to get from green to tee and then put the ball into the hole in the least amount of- strokes. A Par 4 indicates that that hole should be completed in 4 strokes. (Tee, fairway, green and 2 puts). When you start of you will have handicap 54, which means that you have to complete a Par 4 in 7 strokes.
3. The Strokes
To be able to get from tee to green and past all traps you need different sort of clubs that have different paths in length and height. The Driver is the club you will use from tee and has the most power whereas iron clubs and fairway woods will be used to transport the ball from the fairway closer to green.
Wedges are used around the green to get as close to the hole as possible.
4. Gear
When you are new, you do not need to invest heavily in your gear. But! When you make the decision to start playing you should not use too old or too difficult clubs as this will just make golf unnecessary hard and may dampen your interest. Therefore, you should study the available gear and get those that are amateur friendly.
Since this is such an important subject, we recommend you to read this guide for the best iron sets for beginners to beginner’s golf clubs.
5. Different Game Plays
There are many different ways of setting up a golf round in terms of the gameplay – both individually or in teams. The most common is Stable ford, which count points per hole. Next up is stroke play every stroke counts the entire round and does not “reset” after every hole.
6. Handicap System
Golfers in complete different levels and age are able to play together on the same terms because of the clever handicap system. The handicap system is also a great tool to measure your own progress since you start at handicap 54 and lowers it as you improve. It is never too late to start playing golf!
7. Health Benefits
To activate your body is great for your overall health and during a golf round you are taking approximately 10 000 steps. Add pushing a golf cart, swinging 100 swings golf is a great way to stay in shape.
8. Nature and fresh air!
Golf is a great contributor to green surroundings where people and nature meet. Golf is a way of preserving nature and few people realise how much it takes to keep a golf course in good shape. This preserves nature and improves animal habitation.
